FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Why are you doing this?

A. When I was studying my undergraduate course at King's, it was a fairly new course so I didn't have much support available from older students when I was revising. Basically I felt like it would be a nice gesture for any future students so that they wouldn't go through the same thing that I did. Plus I'm currently not using my notes so it seems like a waste to let them collect dust.

Q. What did you study/ what are you currently working on?

A. I completed my Electronic Engineering integrated masters (MEng) at King's College London over the summer in 2020! I'm now studying a Bioinformatics MPhil/PhD degree, as part of the Algorithms and Data Analysis group.

Q. What does your name stand for?

A. Zara Timothea Yue Xin Lim. Fun fact: My name's so long that it doesn't even fit on any of my ID cards.

Q. I can't find your notes for first year modules, where are they?

A. Unfortunately I don't have any of my first year notes since I hadn't discovered the joys of LaTeX and hand wrote them at the time. Also due to personal health reasons, I spent a lot of first year not working and trying not to die (if you want a mini biology lesson feel free to ask me about this in person!) so my organisation for those modules is a bit questionable.

Q. What about your Signals and System notes?

A. I did produce one of those formula sheets that I've uploaded for every other module but I can't seem to find those either... If I ever find it in the depths of my history, I will eventually upload it to this website.

Q. Can I ask for your help on module X?

A. Sure, if I'm not busy, feel free to contact me about any of the modules I've taken - just be warned that I may be slightly rusty on those that I'm not a TA for.

Note: I will be less available during exam season for obvious reasons.

Q. Is all of the content on your revision notes what we need to know for the exam?

A. Definitely not. These were only made as a support for me to remember key formulas, but for modules like PoE, this does not include any of the background theory that was required and the syllabus may have changed since I took the modules. Also some of them may include additional formulae that will be given in the exam/are non examinable - again like PoE.

On the other hand, my summary notes that I provide for FC2/ENM small group tutorials may be more reliable as I try to cut out all of the non-examinable material (but don't just rely on this!)

Q. Will question X be asked in the exam?

A. I have no clue. Even though I may be a TA for some modules, I unfortunately don't get to see what the exam paper/coursework will look like.

Q. Can you upload your solutions for your coursework?

A. I'm less inclined to do this for two reasons:

1. Some lecturers like to repeat questions and it's unfair on them/people who previously spent ages working on the coursework without the solution being available.

2. I'm not 100% comfortable with my reports being available for *anyone* to view. I will update the website accordingly should my views change.

(If, however, you message me after all of the deadlines have passed and want my questions/solutions as exam revision material, I may be more willing to pass them on. Coffee, bubble tea and food bribes are always welcome. )

Q. Can you help me with my coursework?

A. I won't "spoon feed" you line by line and double check that your solutions are correct, however I am happy to give small hints as to how I would approach certain questions if I have the time.

Q. What do you do outside of your degree/being a TA?

A. I'm involved in several research projects and I also tutor GCSE and A levels! Outside of academics, I do ballet, music and fence. I've been doing ballet and music ever since I was 4, but I've only been fencing (badly) for a few years.

Q. What instruments do you play?

A. Violin, viola, piano and harp.

Q. How do you have time for everything?

A. I question that myself. (I don't get much sleep during term time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
